There's Hope!

Devotional Reading: Hebrews 1:1-2

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;"

Jesus has come, fulfilled the Law and introduced to man Grace. There was a time when his people had to rely totally on a "system". A system of rules and regulations. A system that had such an intricate hierarchy that if you wanted something from God or had something you wanted Him to hear, you would have to come up with a worthwhile sacrifice, find a holy man to inspect it and ascribe value to it, then he'd deliver it to a priest that would offer it up to God on your behalf...wait for an answer...get it to someone who would in turn tell you what God said about your situation. I don't know about you, but I've played that game before and something was ALWAYS lost in translation! By the time it became third party what WAS had morphed into something completely different.

The system was broken. It worked for a time and for a purpose. It was temporary.  Jesus hung on a cross, went to a grave and rose after three days to not only fix the system but offer us a new and living way; a permanent way.

God, in these last days, has spoken to us by His Son Jesus. His message is simple...one word really..."believe".  If you can believe God there's nothing that will be impossible to you.

In the next several days we're going to explore together believing God on higher level than ever. Faith is a living, moving and growing part of the believer's life. It's like your nose, it continues to grow from conception to death. Let's talk about it...

Be blessed!

Keep Hope Alive!

Devotional Reading: Hebrews 1:3

"Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;"

Still basking in the residue of remembering Resurrection Day... It is simply mind blowing when I look at what Jesus did. The final hours of his earthly ministry really sum up his commitment to us and the ultimate example of sobriety and humility. It's marvelous!

Look at it. He "by himself purged our sins..." When no one or nothing else could be the remedy for sin Jesus willingly gave up the comforts of his throne to experience the life of his creation. He put on flesh to teach us how to take it off. He walked in anguish to allow us to be carried. He was rejected to show us how to be accepted; accepted into the beloved. He was forsaken that we might become the sons of God; heirs and joint-heirs with him!

When he finished fighting for us he sat down. He sat down to prove to us that our rest too is coming. He proves to us that rest is the direct consequence of labor. His sitting down is perhaps one of the most profound statements ever made. Jacob sat down because he was afraid. Elijah sat down to wait for further instructions. Gandhi sat down because he didn't know what else to do. Rosa Parks sat down because she was tired. Jesus sat down because he was finished. There was nothing else left for him to do. His work is complete. In other words, deal with what you have to. Do what you must. Fight until you win. But, by all means, don't quit before your shift is up!

You have an appointment with destiny. Stay on schedule.

Be blessed!
Eld. Samu-el
